Our story
In 2018, when the iPhone 7 was the latest device and Covid didn’t even exist, Tinder was the dating app of the era. We, at 21 and 22 years old, were the ideal target market for the platform. After some right-swipes and introductory messages were exchanged, we met up for a drink at a pub in Kingsland. Happy hour and half-price burgers were the sell, we still lived with our parents after all.
Us in the early days
After hours of easy conversation and lots of laughs, we had established we had a pretty good connection. We continued going on dates including lots of delicious food and wine, card games, gymnastics, hikes around Piha, mini golf (where strong competitive streaks from both of us were discovered) and a visit to Kyle’s family bach at Waihi beach. Before long, our relationship had blossomed into a beautiful partnership, and we were “official”.
A year later, we moved into our first flat together. We experienced that dreaded Covid lockdown, and didn’t kill each other. If anything, we thrived. Even while stuck in the same space for weeks on end, not that long after we started living together, we laughed and had fun despite the circumstances and our connection became stronger.
After meeting more new friends in another new flat, Savannah set off for Melbourne in 2022 in persuit of a new work opportunity, meaning we had to spend a few months apart from each other until our timelines aligned again. A few (many) tearful facetime calls were had and finally, Kyle made it over as well.
3 years on and we are still taking in Melbourne’s offerings, enjoying the lifestyle, the vibrant city and growing in our professions. We’ve had the opportunity to do a bit of world travel as well, and are itching to do some more. We are so excited to take this next step in our relationship, and begin a new chapter in our story as a married couple. Thank you for celebrating with us, we can’t wait to see you!

Had to amuse ourselves during the Covid lockdowns

This pic is from the day Kyle left Sav alone in Melbourne in a weird little unit for 4.5 months. Cheese burgers to help the tears...
